Dr. Hefley specializes in minimally invasive surgeries for the knee, hip and shoulder including arthroscopic and joint replacement procedures. He is a native of Little Rock who graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Harding University in 1981. After receiving his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1985, Dr. Hefley completed a transitional internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at UAMS in 1990, and received additional training in sports medicine and joint replacement surgery from St. Mary’s Hospital System in the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in London, England. Dr. Hefley began his practice in Little Rock in 1990. Dr. Hefley has served as a clinician for a leading orthopedic implant manufacturer, working on hip prosthesis development.


As a Minimally Invasive Solutions Instructor for MIS hip replacement and MIS Knee Replacement Surgical Techniques, he lectures frequently on these topics to surgeons from around the United States and abroad. He serves as team physician and sports medicine director for schools and organizations at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.

Dr. Hefley has been published in journals such as The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a Diplomate of The American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a member of The Arthroscopic Association of North America, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and The American Medical Association.
