Dr. J. Carlos Roman is passionate about providing his patients a higher quality of life via pain management options such as spinal injections and fusion procedures. A national speaker on the opioid epidemic, he enjoys seeing the transition an overmedicated patient can make to a more active and functional life.

Dr. Roman graduated cum laude from Tulane University in New Orleans and received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine in Little Rock after completing a Senior Rotation at Royal Perth Hospital in Australia. He completed his medical internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and an Anesthesiology Residency at the Tulane University Medical Center with rotations at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, the New Orleans Children’s Hospital, and the Texas Heart Institute in Houston.

After completing his education, Dr. Roman worked as a staff physician in the emergency rooms of Huey P. Long Charity Hospital in Alexander, LA and Lallie Kemp Charity Hospital in Independence, LA. Over a 16-year career at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, Dr. Roman performed several roles, including Chief of Pain Management and Chief of Anesthesia Services. He also served on the Credentials Committee and the Medical Executive Committee and was instrumental in forming the Cardiac Anesthesia Program at the hospital.

Dr. Roman is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He was president of the Arkansas Society of Anesthesiology for two years and served on the Little Rock Anesthesia and Pain Management Executive Committee for seven years. Dr. Roman’s past positions also include Little Rock Anesthesia and Pain Management and Southern Regional Anesthesiology Consultants in Little Rock, where he served as CEO for three years. He is currently the CEO of Proper Pain Solutions in Little Rock.
