Dr. Allison specializes in minimally invasive surgeries for the knee, hip and shoulder including arthroscopic and joint replacement procedures. He is a native of Morrilton who graduated with honors from Arkansas Tech in 1989. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1993, Dr. Allison completed a transitional internship in orthopedic surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He also did a residency program in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Tampa in 1996, and then completed his residency at Allegheny General in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After completing his chief residency at Allegheny General in 1998, Dr. Allison came back to Arkansas and began his practice in Russellville.
Dr. Allison spent the first 25 years of his life working and living on a cattle ranch in Conway County. He was a professional rodeo rider when he decided to enter college at the age of 25 to pursue medical school and a career in orthopedics. After medical school at UAMS, Dr. Allison became a resident at Allegheny General in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he trained with leaving joint replacement surgeons and cared for professional football, baseball and hockey teams. Dr. Allison trained in one of the largest hand surgery programs in the world.
Dr. Allison’s goal is to provide excellence in orthopedic surgery to every patient in a caring, personal environment. He takes time to know his patients, their families, where they live and what they enjoy. Dr. Allison believes that he provides the mechanical portion of his patients’ care, and that healing comes from a higher power. He counts it a true blessing to assist in returning patients to living the life they want.
